A Baku Marathon 2016 took place, 1 May 2017 following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative. The primary objective of the event was providing support to the development of sport in Azerbaijan, popularize a healthy lifestyle among people, especially the youth, and bring them together for benevolent purposes.
In frame of corporate social responsibility policy the ABB actively supports sports events and Baku Marathon 2016 was one of them. That was started on the State Flag Square, the semi-marathon was 21 kilometers and finished on the Baku Olympic Stadium. Any person aged over 16 – city residents and visitors – might join the marathon.
